Casual Wednesday? Charlotte Church looked more than a little scruffy as she popped to the shops in Wales yesterday


She stunned fans earlier this year when she reinvented herself and stepped out a glamorous, chic new woman.

But it seems old habits die hard for Charlotte Church, as she proved yesterday by looking scruffier than ever as she popped to the supermarket in Cardiff.

The 24-year-old star wore a baggy tracksuit and padded black jacket, scowling at photographers as she picked up some groceries.

However, while Charlotte was praised for many of her fashion choices when she tried a new look earlier in 2010, she has always maintained she is not interested in fashion - even appealing to designers to send her some of their creations.

She said: 'I have no idea about fashion. I don't like expensive clothes - except Christian Louboutins (shoes) - and I don't get sent much, probably because I'd make anybody's clothes look bad.

'Most of the time I think I have more to offer than what I look like.
'It's just a body after all - it just houses me.'

Perhaps Charlotte's downcast look yesterday also has something to do with the fact she may be feeling slightly disheartened after trying to launch her music career in America.

The mother-of-two was in New York earlier this month to perform a low-key gig in Manhattan alongside her guitarist boyfriend Jonathan Powell.

She performed eight songs from her recent album Back To Scratch at the show in the city's Lower East Side, to an audience which included a host of press and music professionals.
