They are formed by Ivan Shavalov in 1999. Lena and Julia had previously known each other in a vocal group on them as children. The group was named Neposedi. Julia Darling excluded because it is considered to act destructively.
The first video Tatu is "All The Things She Said" a lot is prohibited to broadcast, including in Indonesia and also reap a lot of protests. Video clips t.A.T.u. which aired freely in Indonesia was "Not Gonna Get Us" and "How soon is now" which is a song that had become the soundtrack of the TV series Charmed.
